No one ever tells you the real story when you're going natural. Finding the right product within my budget was my first task. I remember my first 6 months of 'naturalizing my tresses' came with a hefty price tag. $36 for one bottle of product that I used in one week - oh the struggle. Luckily someone slipped a memo to the brands to create an affordable product that has more than one purpose.
Rita Ora is flying high and is showing no signs of coming down. The songbird recently released her debut album, ORA, in the United Kingdom to great success and is actively plotting its U.S. release. In the meantime, however, Rita is performing on the festival and late night television circuits.
In addition to working to remain relevant on the music scene, the budding style icon is making sure to stay current on the fashion side of things as well.
Detroit, MI -- Karew (pronounced: Kuh-rue) Records and four-time GRAMMY® Award-winning recording artist Karen Clark Sheard gave one of the evening’s most memorable performances in a tribute to music legend Mariah Carey at the BMI Urban Music Awards at the Saban Theatre in Los Angeles.
Carey was the 2012 recipient of BMI's Icon Music Award. A personal favorite, Carey requested Clark Sheard to be a part of the tribute, which also included performances by Fantasia, Joe, Eric Benet and a special DJ medley mix by longtime super producer Jermaine Dupri.
Woolery, the recently out-and-proud "Tea Party guy" and all-around joy to behold, is sick and tired of the ever-embiggening Liberal Handbook of Racial Code Words. For our viewing pleasure, he posted a video this afternoon in which he hammers goofy dog whistle obsessives, like Touré Neblett (or "Nibbler"), whose ears are constantly attuned to the secret conservative "cracker code."
Jay-Z (pictured) has proven himself knowledgable about many things, but apparently the Occupy Wall Street Movement leaves him flabbergasted. In a New York Times magazine profile, the rapper-turned-mogul questioned the purpose of the loosely (at best) organized group of protestors, wondering what exactly is it that they’re trying to do. The long lover of capitalism also seems to take issue with what he considers a demonization of the wealthy.
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have remained in the headlines by doing the most mundane activities. If they are walking to a car and happen to smile in someone’s direction, best believe a photographer is going to catch it and sell the photo. While most of the pics we’ve seen of Kanye and his perfect chick are stills of two overexposed celebrities being normal in their relationship.
We've been counting down the days 'til the online release of Nicole Richie's Impulse line at Macy's, and the wait is over! You can now go to macys.com to shop her bohemia-inspired collection of feather-print blouses, maxi dresses, and (our personal favorite) the faux-fur motorcycle jacket. "All inspiration for me starts with music," Richie told InStyle.com. "And there are many different kinds of music that I love.
As news circulates that Aretha Franklin has approved a treatment for her upcoming biopic and ordered a script, Nia Long smiles at the thought of being involved with the film.
"I would be ever so honored," says the actress with excitement. "She's an icon and I'm sure there's more to her story than the world knows."
Despite being named on Franklin's actor wishlist, Long has yet to be contacted about involvement.
