Detroit, MI -- Karew (pronounced: Kuh-rue) Records and four-time GRAMMY® Award-winning recording artist Karen Clark Sheard gave one of the evening’s most memorable performances in a tribute to music legend Mariah Carey at the BMI Urban Music Awards at the Saban Theatre in Los Angeles.

Carey was the 2012 recipient of BMI's Icon Music Award. A personal favorite, Carey requested Clark Sheard to be a part of the tribute, which also included performances by Fantasia, Joe, Eric Benet and a special DJ medley mix by longtime super producer Jermaine Dupri.

Jay-Z (pictured) has proven himself knowledgable about many things, but apparently the Occupy Wall Street Movement leaves him flabbergasted. In a New York Times magazine profile, the rapper-turned-mogul questioned the purpose of the loosely (at best) organized group of protestors, wondering what exactly is it that they’re trying to do. The long lover of capitalism also seems to take issue with what he considers a demonization of the wealthy.

As news circulates that Aretha Franklin has approved a treatment for her upcoming biopic and ordered a script, Nia Long smiles at the thought of being involved with the film.

"I would be ever so honored," says the actress with excitement. "She's an icon and I'm sure there's more to her story than the world knows."

Despite being named on Franklin's actor wishlist, Long has yet to be contacted about involvement.
