Hello, Happy New Year I know it has been way to long time since my last post. I will explain my absents from my blog in the next post. I would like this time to talk about the challenges I am taking on right now. Like many people the new year bring on new hopes and dreams or resolutions as they are sometimes called. Things we want to do or accomplish. This year I plan on achieving my fitness goals & I would like to help others do the same. I decided to add an ab and plank challenge to my regular 30 minute workout. I ate way to much holiday food and have to get back on track. I figured there is no better way to do it and stick to than to tell the world about it. Once I hit the post button there is no turning back. Here I go, who is ready for this double challenge with me?

My number one FitGirl motto is, “The body follows the mind.”
The biggest thing standing in between you and the weight loss results that you want to achieve may be your thoughts, so I sat down with Amari Medical Chief Medical Director, Dr. J. Shah to get tips on how to mentally boss your body around once and for all! Keep reading for gems on how to change your mind–and in turn, your body.
I for one have never been one for making New Years resolutions. They make for a good gesture, but how many people ever achieve their goals. Well, it has been nearly two years since I lost my job and haven’t been shopping for clothes since then. I decided to go out shopping for a Christmas party outfit and got the shock of my life. Good lighting makes a big difference in department stores than the lighting in your home. The one thing that really got me thinking was when I tried on a snug fitting dress and couldn’t get it pass my thighs, feeling embarrassed I pulled off the dress thinking that I must have grabbed the wrong size. I had to turn around face to face to the mirror to pull it off and got a reality check. Staring in that mirror for at least 10 minutes examining my figure from head to toe, I came to grips that I saw more than I had imagined. Who would have imagined a small framed women could have cellulite being a size 7. But, being of a mature age, size ain’t nothing but a number when it comes to weight. I remembered reading about this women Ernestine Shepard 75 years of age who is a fitness body builder and lets not forget the amazing body. If you don’t believe me check it out for yourself. Yeah, that’s it, that is what I want and I will make it my New Year’s Resolution. I won’t say that I will go the extreme of the body builder because I don’t like all those manly muscles but I will get rid of the dimples in my thighs and tone my arms. Wish me luck. I will keep you updated with my progress.

FMW is always a big supporter of Indian art forms that have gone global, may it be from the world of fashion, beauty or fitness. One such phenomena is Yoga. Over time this form of disciplined exercise and meditation that connects the body mind and soul has gone through a lot of variations and has be altered and customised to suit the needs of different cultures and societies in the global world.
When we heard of Strala Yoga, we were eager to know more about it. So we left our desk and headed to visit a Strala Yoga session. Tara Stiles of American origin is the founder of Strala Yoga was conducting the Strala Yoga session. We expected people sitting in different still positions and holding their positions for long and practicing various breathing techniques with ambient music playing in the background. But we were surprised to see a completely different scenario. Pleasantly surprised we must say – loud music, people dancing to the graceful moves and having fun, more like a dance form.
