Serena Williams Loses To 19 Year-Old Sloane Stephens! Serena Williams has been ousted from the 2013 Australian Open by 19-year-old Sloane Stephens. Stephens outplayed the tennis great, whose movement and serves had been slowed by a back injury, and beat the 15-time Grand Slam champion 3-6, 7-5, 6-4. It was Williams’ first loss since Aug. 17, and her first defeat at a Grand Slam tournament since last year’s French Open.
Venus Williams hit the courts today in a patriotic tennis dress she designed herself! (Sadly, she lost in the third round to Germany’s Angelique Kerber.) The red, white, and blue look—the obvious Team USA requirement—is part of her limited-edition capsule collection for her sportswear line, EleVen by Venus. And this is just a preview of what to expect: the tennis star is planning to launch a bigger collection at New York Fashion Week in September.
Wimbledon Men's Tennis Final - Andy Murray fell at the final hurdle today although he did become the first Brit to reach the Wimbledon men's final since Bunny Austin in 1938.
Although Murray took the first set against Federer and from the beginning of the 2nd set looked likely to dominate that set for a while Federer soon began to move into another gear like so many great champions have done to their opponents before.
Serena Williams, after battling serious injuries for the past two years, won her 5th Wimbelon title today beating Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 to claim her 14th major championship.
In the past 13 years of Wimbeldon play, The Williams' sisters have won a total of 10 times- each winning Wimbeldon five times each.

I love me some tennis and watching the Wimbledon Championship tournament on TV is usually a fabulous fortnight for me. The 2012 Championships started this Monday week and due to other commitments, I haven't watched many matches and was stunned to learn that Venus Williams was knocked out in the first round.
