Local News: Two Suspects Dead After High-Speed Chase Through Cleveland

Two suspects are dead after a high-speed chase through Cleveland ended with gunfire Thursday night.

The chase started at about 10:30 p.m. in downtown on St. Clair Avenue. It ended in the back parking lot of Heritage Middle School on Terrace Avenue in East Cleveland.

According to police, the suspects fired shots into the air in front of police headquarters.

Police said it involved two suspects and at least one of them was armed.

Our photographer, who was doing a ride-along with police, said a cop car and the suspects’ car is filled with bullet holes. He said 30 to 40 shots were fired. Police confirmed the two suspects are dead.

Cleveland, East Cleveland and Cleveland Heights police officers were at the scene, along with the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s deputies.

Gabby Douglas Almost Quit Gymnastics to Work at Chick-fil-A

Gabby Douglas is a gymnastics champ, an Olympic gold medalist and a household name. But just one year ago, she almost left gymnastics altogether — to work at a fast-food joint!

The 16-year-old gymnast admits that around this time last year, she told her coaches and her family that she wanted to quit the competitions and maybe get a job at the local Chick-fil-A. 

“What was I thinking?” she says now.

Luckily for her — and the rest of the world — she didn’t follow up her impulsive plan and kept tumbling her way onto the women’s gymnastics team. The rest, as the say, is history, and Gabby became the first black woman to win the individual all-around competition at the Olympics.
