GIFTEEEEEEEEED!!! *Wale voice*

Last night The Fillmore Silver Spring was rockin!  With bright lights, booming sound, and a packed house, all concert goers were ready for their first official concert of the 2014 year.  Now for the beginning of the year, The Fillmore always hosts a great show, and the person that puts that show on is none other than Mr. Folarin…Wale.  For the third time in a New Year’s row, he has done a New Year’s show, and last night he did not disappoint!

Even though this was a Wale show, you know he had to show love and support to some of DMV’s hottest up and coming rappers.  One of the opening artist was Hannibal of Trifecta Ent.  He kept the crowd live while they waited for “The Wale Show”.  Even though rapper Hannibal did his thing, it was Fatz DaBigFella, the Slutty Boyz, and Black Cobain…

Wale on Tiara Thomas: “I Will Never Help Artists At That Capacity Again”

93.9 WKYS

In an interview with our sister station 92Q,Wale shared his thoughts on Tiara Thomas parting ways with him. He clearly felt betrayed, especially when he did all he could do for the artist just off of loyalty alone.

“No…it’ll take a while for me to do that again. I got trust issues already. I got artists that I am helping but it will never be at that capacity again,” Wale confirms.

Sounds like bad news for independent artists who hoped to work with DC’s most prolific rapper.

Wale’s ‘Gifted’ album debuts at No.1, Lil Wayne goes gold, more

The New York Gossip

Wale is “Gifted” enough to face off with J. Cole and Kanye West.

His first-week sales of 158,000 copies for the June 25 release of “Gifted” landed him in the top spot for weekly sales, just two weeks after West’s “Yeezus” and Cole’s “Born Sinner” dropped June 18.

Though he sold fewer copies than Kanye West (328,800 copies) and J. Cole (297,922 copies) in his first week, Wale’s sophomore album “Gifted” is officially Wale’s first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. His 2011 album “Ambition” peaked at No. 2.

“Born Sinner” currently sits at the No. 2 spot, while “Yeezus” sales dropped 80% landing West at the No. 3 spot.

Meanwhile, Lil Wayne’s “I Am Not A Human Being II” went gold with 503,000 in total sales since his March 26 release. T.I’s 2012 “Trouble Man” album also nears the gold mark with 483,000 in total sales.

Chuck Brown Gets Final Farewell at Homegoing Service [PHOTOS]

93.1 WZAK

WASHINGTON D.C There are three things that go on a headstone when one dies- the date you were born, the date of your passing and a dash in between, according to the District’s “Mayor-for-life” and current Ward 8 councilman Marion Barry. The dash is the time you spend on this earth and the impact you have. The councilman revealed that the Godfather of go-go once asked himself, “What kind of dash are you going to live?”

Chuck Brown’s home going brought hundreds of residents to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on to pay homage to his life and legacy on Thursday, May 31. Many notables were in attendance, including emcee for the ceremony Donnie Simpson, Cliff Jones, Raheem DeVaughn and others.

For such a musical innovator, you wouldn’t expect anything less than superb musical performances at his memorial service. Isaiah Thomas performed Chuck’s “Can’t Nobody Do Me Like Jesus” gospel go-go song. Jones sang…
